The Delaware State Police Collision Reconstruction Unit (CRU) is investigating a complex fatal crash Saturday morning, November 29, 2025, on Salem Church Road involving five vehicles.

The crash, just south of the I-95 overpass, occurred around 9:45 a.m.

According to troopers, a car driven by a 21-year old Dover man was southbound, but in the northbound lane approaching a line of four oncoming vehicles.

At the same time, the second vehicle in the northbound line attempted an illegal pass. The southbound driver attempted to avoid a collision, but lost control hitting the lead car in the line head-on.

The driver of that car, a 60-year old Middletown man, was pronounced dead on the scene.

The crash collected the other two vehicles in the line, but those drivers were not hurt.
