CANTON, Ohio (WOIO) - A judge is expected to decide Monday whether to appoint a special prosecutor for two Canton police officers accused of reckless homicide in the April 2024 death of Frank Tyson while in police custody.
Canton Police officers Beau Schoenegge and Camden Burch face felony charges in the death of the 53-year-old Tyson, a case that captured national headlines.
The incident
Tyson crashed his car in Canton and ran into a nearby AMVETS Club, asking someone to call the sheriff. Canton Police were called instead, and a struggle involving Tyson and the officers was caught on camera.
