With the project considered to be more than halfway done according to the Arizona Department of Transportation (ADOT), the Interstate 17 wildlife overpass south of Flagstaff has paused construction for the winter.

The $15.8 million wildlife overpass started construction this past May and is located 12 miles south of Flagstaff. The overpass is still scheduled to be completed by fall 2026, according to ADOT, which is partnering with the Arizona Game and Fish Department on the project. After halting for the winter break on Wednesday, crews will resume work once weather conditions are more favorable in the new year. Copy article link Sign up for our newsletters
