GLENDALE, Ariz. — A man is in custody after allegedly stealing someone's car and crashing it into a pole outside of a Glendale bank early Monday morning, according to the city's police department.
Police were called to a bank near 57th Avenue and Camelback Road just after 1 a.m. because of an "armed robbery" call.
Officials learned that a man was withdrawing money from an ATM. When he was returning to his car, police said he saw a man attempting to steal it.
A physical struggle occurred, resulting in the suspect crashing the victim's car into a pole in front of the bank, police said.
The suspect allegedly fled and entered a nearby apartment complex. Police later found and apprehended him.
No injuries were initially reported.
