A massive fire has ripped through the club house of a historic sports ground this morning.
The blaze devastated Penarth Rugby Club near Cardiff, Wales, which is also the headquarters for the seaside town’s cricket and hockey teams. Fire crews and emergency services swooped to tackle the inferno at around 5am, with the blaze brought under control just under three hours later.
Penarth Athletic Club near Cardiff is also well-known for having hosted annual matches against the Barbarians.
But a mystery blaze broke out overnight and destroyed the club's main bar area and caused smoke damage throughout. No one was hurt in the blaze and firefighters arrived at the scene and were able to douse the flames before it spread further.
