A man has been found dead after police were called to a Wearside park.

Emergency services were called to Roker Park in Sunderland at 7.35am this morning (December 1) following a report of concern for a man's welfare.

Northumbria Police have confirmed there are no suspicious circumstances surrounding the man's death, and that his next of kin have been informed.

A file will be prepared for the coroner.

Pictures seen by The Northern Echo show a large police cordon in place.
