There is the legend that Cecil B. DeMille wanted to shoot the first-ever feature film in Flagstaff but didn't like the weather and didn't think the landscape looked appropriate for a Western, so he kept going to Los Angeles. This is probably apocryphal. Ah, well, missed opportunities abound, whatever the case.
