ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) — A Newton County family is mourning the death of a pregnant teenager who was killed just after midnight on Friday morning in a crash with a suspected DUI driver.

Jaylah Donald, 19, was seven months pregnant. She died on Fairview Road in Covington. Her unborn son did not survive.

Jaylah’s mother, Takila, who was driving the car, was life-flighted to Grady Memorial Hospital after the crash.

According to the Georgia State Patrol (GSP), Takila was “improperly” backing onto Fairview Road when they were hit on the passenger side by another vehicle.

GSP suspects the driver of that car was under the influence. They told Atlanta News First charges are pending for both drivers.
