URBANDALE, Iowa (KCRG) - Iowa Board of Regents President Sherry Bates announced she is resigning from the Iowa Board of Regents, and the board’s President Pro Tem Greta Rouse will step away from her leadership position while staying on the board.
Both changes will take place Thursday.
Bates and Rouse both said focusing on family as a priority in stepping down.
Bates has been on the board since 2014. She was appointed by former Governor Terry Branstad to fill the seat of Nicole Carroll . She was elected as the board’s president in 2024. Her term on the board expired in 2029.
In a statement, she thanked Governor Kim Reynolds and former Gov. Branstad for giving her the opportunity to work on the board.
“I have been fortunate enough to serve on the Board for nearly 11 years,” she said.
