Jace Howard’s basketball career is over. The former Wolverine and son of former Michigan head coach Juwan Howard has medically retired from the sport after two games at his new school.
A spokesperson for the Fordham basketball program, where Howard was playing this season, confirmed the news this weekend. Howard is no longer listed on the team’s official roster online. He cited concussions as the reason according to reports, including one from CBS Sports’ Jon Rothstein.
Howard, a 6-foot-7 forward, appeared in 70 games over five seasons at Michigan, averaging 6.8 minutes and 1.4 points per game. Those first four years overlapped with his dad coaching the team. When Juwan Howard was fired after the 2023-24 season, Jace stayed and appeared in five games for coach Dusty May.
