ASCENSION PARISH, La. (WAFB) - An inmate is in critical condition and a second inmate is facing a battery charge following an altercation at the Ascension Parish Jail, according to officials.

The Ascension Parish Sheriff’s Office says Stacy Leblanc, 56, of Belle Rose, has been charged with second-degree battery in connection to the incident. Authorities say the victim is currently hospitalized in the ICU with a severe head injury.

The investigation into the incident is ongoing and information will be updated as it becomes available.
