Shopify experienced an outage as online shoppers hunted for deals on Cyber Monday.
The online shopping platform said just before 10 a.m. EST on Dec. 1 that it was investigating after some of its merchants reported issues accessing point of sale and admin systems.
"We're aware of an issue with Admins impacting selected stores, and are working to resolve it," Shopify said in a post on X, adding that real-time updates would be available on its status website.
According to the outage tracking website Downdetector, more than 4,000 users reported issues using Shopify as of 11 a.m. EST.
Shopify is an e-commerce platform for managing online business sales and operations. The outage comes during Cyber Monday, the Monday following the Thanksgiving holiday that is considered one of the biggest online retail shopping days of the year.
Is Shopify down?
According to Shopify's status page, the platform is still down as of 12:40 p.m.
"We are continuing to investigate and apply mitigations for the issues with accessing Admins and POS systems. Some merchants may also see an issue with POS checkouts, due to not being able to access POS systems," the latest update said.
The status website indicated partial outages with the admin and checkout services, while mobile, point of sale and support services had degraded performance as of 1 p.m., according to the status website.
This is a developing story.
