BINGHAMTON – A Winter Storm Watch has been issued for our region by the National Weather Service (NWS) in Binghamton, signaling that conditions are favorable for a significant snow event. The watch is generally in effect for most of Tuesday, starting in the early morning hours and lasting until Tuesday evening.
Lead meteorologist, Mike Murphy, said, “Snow accumulation could be five to nine inches, especially in the higher elevations of the Catskills.”
He said snow is expected to begin early Tuesday morning, and it may be heavy at times, particularly in the morning.
This timing will likely make both the Tuesday morning and evening commutes hazardous due to snow-covered roads, slick conditions on bridges and overpasses, and low visibility.
