WEST COLUMBIA, S.C. — South Carolina emergency officials, state agency leaders, and Gov. Henry McMaster gathered Monday to urge residents to begin preparing now for winter weather, even as the state typically sees its coldest impacts in January and February.
The briefing marked the start of South Carolina Winter Weather Preparedness Week, which runs from November 30 through December 6.
“The time to get ready is now,” the governor said, encouraging residents to know how to turn off their water, stock needed medicines, plan for pets, and alert family members about travel plans.
