Balaclava-clad moped riders led police on a pursuit through a city centre before escaping officers in the woods. Durham Constabulary's entire Motorcycle Section and Traffic Cars team were deployed to Durham City on Sunday afternoon following reports that a mob known as 'The Balaclava Club' had been spotted in the area.

It was reported that they had arrived on one moped and were in the process of stealing another. But when both mopeds passed a Motorcycle Officer near Durham University , it triggered a brief pursuit toward Houghall College where both
