A Pontiac woman who faces accusations of abandoning her children to live alone in squalor for years pleaded no contest to welfare fraud in Oakland County Circuit Court on Monday, the prosecutor's office announced.
Kelli Bryant, 34, entered the plea on three counts of welfare fraud, according to Oakland County Prosecutor Karen McDonald's office.
McDonald said it does not impact the charges accusing Bryant of child abuse, and no sentencing agreement or offer of leniency was made for those charges.
Prosecutors allege Bryant left her three children for more than three years to survive on weekly drop-offs of prepared food in a house filled with trash and feces. The children were 12, 13 and 15 when they were found in February.
