GAINESVILLE, Fla. (WCJB) - For better or for worse, Florida has a new football coach in Tulane’s Jon Sumrall and the choice of the new coach has not exactly been a home run to a lot of Gator fans who wanted Lane Kiffin or no one else. Fairly or unfairly, Sumrall is being lumped together with the fired Billy Napier because of coaching teams in Louisiana and for coaching in either the Sunbelt or the American Conference. I get it.

But my advice to Gator fans...Get over it.

Like the hire, hate the hire, he’s the guy so why not rally around him and give him a chance? We’ll never know who Florida contacted about the job or how many so called big names were vetted but a look around the SEC shows coaches hired at Auburn and Arkansas have similar backgrounds...Only Kiffin is different and frankly
