Kauai firefighters extinguished a fire Sunday night at the Thrifty Mini Mart in Kekaha that caused an estimated $308,000 in damage.
Firefighters were dispatched to the fire at the Mini Mart shortly after 7:45 p.m. Sunday, and arrived on scene in about 5 minutes. Upon arrival, they found smoke coming from the mart’s roof.
After initiating an offensive fire attack, firefighters were able quickly extinguish it. The fire was confined to the building’s attic area.
No injuries were reported, according to the Kauai Fire Department. One individual was medically evaluated by AMR paramedics at the scene for faintness, but was not taken to the hospital.
The scene was cleared shortly before 12:30 a.m. today.
An investigation is underway to determine the fire’s origin and cause.
