MEDINA, Ohio -- One of the largest and most iconic houses in the city now proudly displays a bronze commemorative plaque on the wall of the front porch.
It reads: “The McDowell-Phillips House Built in 1890 Has Been Listed in the National Register of Historic Places by the United States Department of the Interior.”
Now the home of the McDowell-Phillips House Museum at 205 S. Prospect St., the historic house is owned and operated by the Medina County Historical Society.
Medina historian Joann King began the process to earn the house this recognition four years ago.
King painstakingly collected the documentation required by the Department of the Interior.
With the help of the late photographer Eric Daiber, she recorded views of each room and all exterior features of the house.
