A Delano man was sentenced Monday to six years and eight months in federal prison for conspiring to distribute fentanyl, federal prosecutors said.

According to the U.S. Attorney’s Office, Omar Vayas Duran, 45, worked with Jesus Manuel Morfin Villa, 31, and others to acquire and sell fentanyl between September 2020 and June 2021.

Court documents say Duran supplied Morfin Villa with about 2,000 counterfeit oxycodone pills containing fentanyl during a June 2021 deal.

Morfin Villa was sentenced in August 2023 to 14 years in prison on charges related to distributing methamphetamine and fentanyl.

The Drug Enforcement Administration investigated the case. It was prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorneys Kimberly A. Sanchez and Cody S. Chapple.
