For the third time in a matter of weeks, San Francisco’s Sunset District has a new supervisor.
Alan Wong is the second person to be appointed to the District 4 board seat to replace recalled Supervisor Joel Engardio. Wong was sworn in Monday on the steps of his high school alma mater.
Wong immediately waded into some of the district’s most contentious issues, including the closing of the Great Highway to build Sunset Dunes park.
“As the new District 4 supervisor, it is my responsibility to heal a divided community, and that’s why it is my commitment to always listen before I act,” he said.
Wong replaces Mayor Daniel Lurie’s first District 4 replacement pick Isabella “Beya” Alcaraz, who resigned after just one week on the board.
