A man who was indicted on three felony counts in 2023, is having a jury decide the case during a trial this week in a Bell County courtroom.

The defendant, Craig Allen Showman, was released from the Bell County Jail after posting a bond of $100,000 on Oct. 5, 2023. A Bell County grand jury handed down a three-count indictment against Showman on Sept. 20, 2023, on a second-degree felony charge of sexual assault of a child under 17. The public grand jury report did not list his name because he had not yet been arrested.

A jury was selected on Monday in the 478th Judicial District Court to hear the case.

An indictment alleges that Showman, whom court records show was born in the 1970s, sexually assaulted a girl on Jan. 31, 2009; June 6, 2014; and June 11, 2014. An arrest affidavit was not
