Brian Walshe’s murder trial began Monday in Norfolk Superior Court with opening statements followed by witness testimony from Cohasset police Sgt. Detective Harrison Schmidt, the lead investigator on the case.

Walshe is accused of killing his wife after a New Year’s party in January 2023, cutting her up, and disposing of her body.

He initially pleaded not guilty to charges of murder, conveying a body, and misleading investigators, but on Nov. 18, just before jury selection began, Walshe pleaded guilty to the lesser two counts, so he’s only standing trial for allegedly killing his wife.
