DJ Durkin will stay at Auburn as the defensive coordinator , joining Alex Golesh’s staff and beginning a new era on the Plains.
Auburn hasn’t won more than six games in a season since 2019. It’s missed out on a bowl game in three of the last four seasons, as Auburn finished 1-2 with Durkin as the interim coach.
However, Durkin’s work at Auburn has been undeniable as Auburn’s defense allowed 20.1 PPG through 11 games, marking the lowest for a Durkin defense since his 2015 Michigan unit.
With Durkin officially staying, Auburn may not have to worry about a potential exodus of some of its key defensive players.
