AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) - At the Battle of Brier Creek in eastern Screven County, American history is actively being preserved.
“I always tell people this is one of the least known, yet most significant battles in the South of the American Revolution,” said Dr. John Derden, retired professor of history. “And a rider comes right into camp, you know, saying, essentially, the British are coming. And the Americans are, they’re not prepared at all.”
This came as a surprise because the Americans were following the British south.
