ST. JOSEPH COUNTY, Ind. (WNDU) - Five local leaders in St. Joseph County signed a letter supporting future data center projects in the county, stating that opposition would lead to higher income taxes.
The letter argues that “a vote against this growth, is a vote for higher income taxes.”
South Bend Mayor James Mueller signed the letter expressing support for two upcoming data center projects in St. Joseph County. His name was joined by Mishawaka Mayor Dave Wood and three St. Joseph County commissioners.
“The only way to avoid either income tax increase, or cuts to critical services like public safety is for us to grow and expand the tax base,” Mueller said.
