LITCHFIELD, Conn. (WFSB) - Two men filed lawsuits Monday against the Town of Litchfield and its Board of Education, alleging they were sexually abused as students by former Litchfield Middle School coach David Driscoll.

John Fitterer and Dan Bird claim in their lawsuits that school officials failed to act despite receiving complaints in the 1980s that Driscoll was sexually abusing minor students, years before either plaintiff met the coach.

Driscoll served as the school’s swimming and cross-country coach and was also head of the Litchfield Track Club. He worked at youth camps in Maine during summers.

According to the court filings, school officials encouraged and allowed Driscoll to continue coaching young boys despite receiving complaints about his sexual abuse of other students. The l
