“ Lucky for Life ” is about to run out of luck.
The multi-state lottery game that offers players $1,000 a day for life will be phased out next year in Massachusetts and every other participating state, Massachusetts State Lottery officials confirmed.
Launched in Massachusetts in 2012, the game will be replaced by a new daily drawing game called “Millionaire for Life.” Tickets will be $5 each, in comparison to the $2 draws in “Lucky for Life.”
Players will also see a much larger annual payout. Under “Lucky for Life,” winners receive $7,000 a week or a secondary prize of $25,000 a year for life, in addition to smaller-tier prizes.
