OWENSBORO, Ky. (WFIE) - Families in Owensboro gathered at Chautauqua Park for the first snow of the year.

They say they’ve been enjoying the day off together, bracing the snowy hills on their sleds.

“We noticed that there’s been a snow last night, so we were really anticipating things,” says Johnathan Brown. “We just came with sleds and the kids and my wife’s actually here too and she’s from the Philippines and just hoping to have some fun sledding today.”

Despite having fun going down the hill, sledders say it was steep going back up.

“It’s pretty fun but it’s kind of tiring going back because it’s so steep,” says Gavin Cade Santiago.

“Yeah I wish we could just have an escalator to go up the hill,” says Dakota Brown.
