WEST LOUISVILLE, Ky. —

A major milestone for west Louisville: the Portland Library is officially back open after a full renovation and expansion, one of 17 locations that will remain open during the Main Library renovations.

Mayor Craig Greenberg and city leaders helped welcome the community back Tuesday, celebrating a space that “honors the rich heritage of this building and this neighborhood while starting something new.”

“This is not just a beautifully restored and reimagined space,” said library executive director Heather Lowe. “It is also a renewed commitment to what libraries do best. We connect people to one another, to opportunity, and to possibility.”
