BUFFALO, N.Y. — Buffalo Public Schools is preparing to narrow down which two schools may close at the end of this academic year, following a public meeting on December 1 and ahead of a key School Closure Committee session scheduled for Thursday, December 4. District officials say a final decision is expected by December 17.

A district spokesperson says that in addition to Monday night’s public forum, nearly 1,800 survey responses have been submitted by families, staff, and community members. These responses will be part of the committee’s deliberations as it works toward a recommendation.

Closure Committee member Ed Speidel, who is also a Buffalo Public Schools parent, said the upcoming phase will require the group to explain each choice in detail.
