PEORIA, Ill. – The lights of the Christmas season are shining brightly along Peoria’s Riverfront Museum.
A 75-foot Norway spruce tree adorned in more than 40-thousand lights was lit up for the first time at a ceremony Tuesday night at the museum. The tree was donated by Peoria residents , Dan and Kathy Becker.
Alison Unkovich is the organizer of the tree lighting, as well as this weekend’s Christmas in the Village at the museum. She says the event, combined with last weekend’s Santa Claus Parade, helps create a festive start to Peoria’s holiday season.
“Coming down here, having this beautiful, majestic tree, really is just another opportunity for our community to gather and celebrate that Christmas season together,” Unkovich said.
Unkovich says the tree will be lit every night thro
