EAST LANSING, Mich. (WILX) - Michigan State fans had their first interactions with new head football coach Pat Fitzgerald Tuesday night.
Hours after he was formally introduced, Fitzgerald attended the Spartans’ Big Ten basketball opener against Iowa.
Fitzgerald fired up the Breslin Center crowd before speaking during a timeout in the first half, saying, “It’s great to be here, I’m honored to be here, and I want to thank all of you for your support today; it’s been incredible. Let’s get [the Breslin Center] rocking tonight, then we’re going to get to work, and let’s get Spartan Stadium rocking this fall.”
Fitzgerald takes over for Jonathan Smith, who was fired after two seasons in charge.
