East Lansing — In a perfect world, Pat Fitzgerald wouldn’t even bother watching the highlight clips he found on the internet. The way he sees it, for a college coach evaluating high school recruits, that’s akin to ordering an appetizer at dinner.

“I want to have the steak,” Fitzgerald explained with a laugh Tuesday afternoon, shortly after he’d been formally introduced as Michigan State’s new head football coach . “I mean, I want to see it all. But that's just not the case.”
