Frederick County may face significant shortfalls in state and federal funding for its 2027 fiscal year budget, Frederick County Executive Jessica Fitzwater has warned.

At a lightly attended public hearing to kick off the fiscal year 2027 budgeting process on Monday evening, Fitzwater pointed out that a recent report from the state's Department of Legislative Services shows Maryland facing nearly a $1.5 billion budget shortfall.
