OAK RIDGE, Tenn. (WVLT) - Governor Bill Lee announced on Tuesday the first small modular reactor in the United States is set to be developed in East Tennessee.

Lee said the Tennessee Valley Authority had been selected for a $400 million grant from the U.S. Department of Energy to advance the development of a small modular reactor at the Clinch River Site, which is one of the only federally-approved and undeveloped nuclear sites in the country.
