INDIANAPOLIS — An man faces charges in connection with an Indianapolis copper wire theft investigation.
Marion County Prosecutor Ryan Mears said Tuesday the monthslong investigation involved 80 separate incidents alleging theft of telecommunication wire reported by AT&T.
“We were able to bring major felony charges before the court because of the collaboration between members of our business community and law enforcement to build this case,” Mears said. “As similar investigations continue, we remain committed to working together to improve the lives of our Marion County residents who are impacted when these incidents occur.”
According to court documents, authorities were contacted by a local scrap dealer who reported a man brought in 281 pounds of AT&T wiring in a transaction in August.
