The coastal low that drenched Eastern North Carolina with up to two inches of rain along the Crystal Coast and Outer Banks is finally on the move. Showers are wrapping up from west to east this afternoon, and most of us will be dry by early evening.

Tonight, we trade in the rain for a chill. Skies gradually clear, northwest winds brings in colder air, and temperatures drop to around freezing by sunrise Wednesday. You’ll want the heavier coat waiting by the door for the morning commute, and don’t be surprised if the car feels a bit frosty.

High pressure takes over Wednesday and Thursday, giving us a quiet and dry stretch.
