VANCEBORO, N.C. (WITN) - DJ Davis was born a football player. From tackling the quarterback without pads on as a nine-year-old to setting a school record this season, he’s had quite the decade on the gridiron.
As he enters the 4A State Semifinals this week, Davis has 53 touchdowns this year (27 passing & 26 rushing), as he shattered this old mark, 48, weeks ago.
As a true dual-threat QB, Davis has impressed fans all year on the field, but inside the locker room, his coach thinks he’s even more important.
“His ability to lead those guys and take the bull by the horns, he don’t mind being the guy with the ball in his hands with the game on the line, I think he wants it,” Eagles Coach Michael Twichell said.
