Vanderbilt is no closer to competing in the College Football Playoff than it was a week ago, despite a three-touchdown win on the road against a ranked Tennessee team last Saturday.

The Commodores remained No. 14 in the latest CFP rankings , which were released Tuesday.

That leaves Vanderbilt (10-2, 6-2) still on the outside looking in for the tournament, which will feature the five highest ranked champions of nine FBS conferences as well as seven at-large teams.

The final CFP rankings come out this Sunday, when the 12-team field is announced following conference championship games Saturday.

It will likely take plenty of chaos for Vanderbilt to work its way into the CFP, considering the lack of progress the Commodores have made in recent weeks despite winning three straight SEC gam
