Metro Nashville joined a national lawsuit on Monday challenging federal funding cuts to homelessness initiatives.
Nashville joins the city governments of Boston, Cambridge (Mass.), Santa Clara County and San Francisco, along with numerous nonprofits, in the 85-page complaint . The plaintiffs claim the Trump administration made changes to U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development Continuum of Care program funding without obtaining approval from Congress, with no public comment and with no official transition plan.
According to the lawsuit, HUD revoked its notice of funding opportunity on Nov. 13 — just a few weeks before funding for the new fiscal year was set to be allocated. The suit says this action will "severely delay” housing funds and that HUD will not announce new awards
