FORT VALLEY, Ga. — Voters in Fort Valley chose Shakeena Reeves as their next mayor Tuesday night, unseating incumbent Jeffrey Lundy in a runoff election.

According to unofficial results, Reeves won about 60% of the vote in a race that capped Georgia’s final election day of 2025.

Reeves celebrated her victory at Tapatio Restaurant in Fort Valley surrounded by family and supporters. She said she plans to lead with transparency and accessibility when she takes office in January.

“I want to be able to have an open-door policy that allows [people] to come in and speak without a limited time,” Reeves said. “As well as putting the mayor’s suggestion and concern box outside so they can leave their ideas.”
