NORMAN, Okla. ( KSWO /Gray News) – The University of Oklahoma is investigating a report of religious discrimination after a former Nixa High School student said she received a zero on a psychology essay for referencing the Bible to support her argument.

According to a statement from the university, a full review of the situation was initiated after the student notified university leaders. In addition, the graduate instructor has been placed on leave while the situation is under review.

Turning Point USA identified the student as Samantha Fulnecky. She graduated from Nixa High School in 2023. She plays tennis at the OU. Her mother, Kristi Fulnecky, served on the Springfield City Council for several years.
