FORT WORTH, Texas — As the workday ended and the sun slipped behind the skyline on a Friday evening, dozens of friends and family members gathered inside a hotel lobby wearing Santa-style Mickey Mouse hats. They were there for one purpose: to pull off a surprise for the Jasso family of Fort Worth.
The group loaded onto a charter bus, calling themselves a village on a mission. Their destination was the home of Mike and Senaida Jasso, a couple whose adoption journey has inspired their community.
This was not the first time this crowd had shown up for the Jassos. When the couple adopted their three children, Christopher, Alyssa and Domingo, supporters flooded the courtroom. Even the judge remarked she had never seen so many people attend an adoption hearing.
