A Houston Police Department K-9 is recovering after being choked to the point of unconsciousness, according to court records, by a man who was homeless and refused to leave an apartment unit near NRG Park.
Police said they got called to the apartment complex on Holly Hall Street on Sunday for a report of a homeless man in a vacant unit refusing to leave.

When they arrived, they found 50-year-old Talmadge Blount in the unit, who continued refusing officers’ verbal commands to leave.
A K-9 was sent in, and Blount allegedly choked the K9, which hasn’t been identified, to the point of unconsciousness, according to court records.
Blount had to be tased to stop choking the K-9, records show.
