The Scottish Conservatives are considering a vote of no confidence in the Justice Secretary after accusing her of misrepresenting the views of Professor Alexis Jay and misleading Parliament.
The party’s leader, Russell Findlay , said Angela Constance’s position was now “probably untenable”.
The Cabinet Secretary has been under sustained pressure after The Herald revealed that comments she made in Parliament about Prof Jay — the leading child-protection expert who exposed the Rotherham grooming scandal — were quietly corrected by civil servants in October.
The row comes as Prof Jay has now publicly called for urgent action in Scotland, warning that the country still lacks a “clear or reliable picture” of the scale of child sexual exploitation.
