Stopped school buses cause traffic delays
Recently, a school bus 100 yards from Fruitville Road had stopped; it was apparently waiting for students to board it.
I was three cars behind on Tuttle Avenue.
Soon there were 20 or more cars in the two lanes – all of them waiting for the school bus to move.
Since the signal ahead was red, I was unconcerned.
But no one was getting on the bus, and the light at Fruitville had now turned to green.
Finally, a boy of 8 or so ran out of an apartment building and boarded the bus.
But by then the light was red again, causing dozens of cars to have a 3-to-4-minute delay at Fruitville.
This made me think about a similar experience that occurred weeks earlier on Proctor Road.
Once again, I had a long wait for a school bus to move – and eventually
