LINCOLN, Neb. (KOLN) -The Lincoln Police Department will conduct a Winter Traffic Safety Project from Dec. 4, 2025, through March 31, 2026.

The enforcement effort is designed to reduce crashes during the winter months, traditionally one of the highest-risk periods for collisions.

Additional officers will work overtime to focus on common factors contributing to winter-related crashes, including speeding, driving too fast for conditions, following too closely, and failing to yield the right of way at intersections.

A grant from the Nebraska Department of Transportation Highway Safety Office is funding the operation. The continued support allows the Lincoln Police Department to dedicate additional resources to targeted traffic enforcement.
