St. John Vianney volleyball has only known two coaches in its history.
When the program was founded in 2011, Jessica Gadaleta was urged to keep the first season junior varsity only. But that’s not her style. Gadaleta, who had just started teaching English at SJV, was ready to immerse the Lancers’ new program into varsity competition.
It paid off right out of the gate, as SJV notched a 9-9 record in their inaugural season.
She married Brian Gadaleta, who joined her as a coach in the program’s early stages. Together, they built St. John Vianney into one of the cornerstones of Non-Public volleyball that makes the sport so respectable in New Jersey.
The devoted duo led St. John Vianney to its greatest season ever in 2025. The Lancers won their fifth Shore Conference Tournament championshi
