Early in their lives, students are put in positions where they must quickly adapt to a changing environment. Going from middle school to high school, while still a milestone, may not present much of a culture shift for students who have only ever attended public schools.
However, for students that have attended religious schools prior to their high school career, the transition can be daunting. It can present typical challenges, such as new course work and making new friends, but it can also present challenges when it comes to their religious identity.
Randy Boroff, director of academics at Gross Schechter Day School in Pepper Pike, explained that a successful transition process is the product of teamwork between students and staff.
